How is our vitality shaped and impaired by the systems surrounding us? Since Wilhelm Reich’s interest into these questions, a comprehensive understanding of living human functioning is essential to body-psychotherapy. This includes among others the ability for emotional oscillation, somato-psychic agility, the ability to attach to others, the ability to surrender and to being present in the moment. In this panel, representatives of various body-psychotherapeutic schools will be describing how they understand vitality and how they foster the ability to ‘flow’ with life. In doing so, we will keep an eye on the role of society and on the extent to which crises and suffering are a necessary part of our vitality.

[abstract]
[pic]
rackelmann.jpg
[bio]

[abstract]

Speakers

[speaker]
Heiner Steckel
[abstract]
Vitality shows in free flow inside flexible boundaries. Therefore, they show a remarkable immobility and resistance to change, which involves an inevitable amount of distress and suffering, prior to the rehabilitation in a new more vital level of existence.
[pic]

komi.jpg

[bio]

Marilena Komi is a Psychopedagogist, (University of Ioannina,Greece),

Body-psychotherapist trainer and supervisor, -for the last 30 years-, with previous background and professional activity in Architecture and Urban planning (University of Florence and University of Rome, Italy ). I use Reich’s model of pulsation to help the patient experience a self-oriented gathering called the ‘instroke’, resulting in a safe, creative expansive outstroke towards others.
Most pain, suffering and crises are distorted/uncompleted states of vitality and flow. When the flow is constricted, blocked, split off, the patients become identified with these distorted states as the living state itself.
Using touch and talking, I support the patient enhancing vitality by mobilizing the instroke process. This allows the patient to move below defenses, trauma and conflict to the still intact, undamaged, endo self state. This unified, embodied subjective self state is where life’s vitality is still intact but trapped.
[pic]
davis.jpg
[bio]
Over 40 year’s experience practicing and training in America, Japan & Europe.
